Thai Mashiatsu Massage

Thai ‘Mashiatsu’ Massage is a combination of Thai Massage and Japanese Ashiatsu (which is done with the feet). Mashing, as I call it, is done clothed and either on a sturdy table with bars overhead or a yoga mat. Because I’m using my feet over my hands, it can yield a deep tissue massage effect without being as painful as having a thumb or elbow put into a tight spot. It can also improve general muscle tension as it has a compressive effect, which relaxes tissues—think of it as a thundershirt for your muscles.

Typically I combine this technique with other services like Ki Hara active stretching because when we loosen the tissues up first, we can get a deeper stretch. That said, it can also be a standalone service in a session. It’s also a great option for folks who typically can’t enjoy a regular massage or who don’t want to disrobe in a bodywork session.
